SPRING 2024 Classes

Registration is officially closed for Spring 2024 Classes, but feel free to read below to get a feel for what we are up to and please contact us if you are interested in Fall classes! We will be announcing Fall 2024 classes by June. Thank you!

We are excited to offer three types of after-school classes for students aged 4-17 this Spring! Theater Classes, Theater Tech Classes and a Film 101 Class! Classes are divided by age range and will run from January 22nd through May 24th with rolling enrollment until March 15th.

All of our classes offer a deep enrichment model of 8 students to 1 teacher, and classes are capped at 20 students to ensure students grow deep in knowledge, and even deeper in connection to their peers and teachers. We do everything we can to ensure we cater to the specific needs of all of our students, and rich communication with parents is key to Little Characters!

New to Little Characters? Your first class is always free! All classes can be paid for up front for the semester, or in five monthly installments. All classes are $75 per month or $375 for the semester. (If you join after January - we will prorate your payments to reflect classes taken!)

We offer a 15% sibling discount and a 15% multiple class discount to help families who are interested in more than one class per week! If you start after January 22nd, we will prorate your tuition based on classes you have left!

It is our hope to offer classes to all students, so please let us know if you are interested in scholarships!

Theater Classes

In these classes, students will get to explore all different types of theater! We will spend the first part of the semester learning the foundations and improv, and then we will work toward writing our own show to perform in May! Monday classes are located at the Winterville Cultural Center and Wednesday Classes are located at Work.Shop off of Chase Street in Athens. Please see below for class descriptions!

3:30-4:30pm: 4-6 year olds // 4:30-5:30pm: 7-10 year olds // 5:30-6:30pm: 11-17 year olds

  • Ages 4-6

This class is for our littlest characters! We will learn about emotions, movement, and use our imaginations to learn the different parts of theater. Costumes, crafts and dance parties will be in abundance!

  • Ages 7-10

This class will give opportunities to think BIG and creatively. We will dive deeper into emotions and characters through games, improv and team-building activities. We will learn elements of a story and write our own shows. All levels welcome!

  • Ages 11-17

The middle and high school years are a terrific time to learn about who we are and the world around us through the art of theater. Students will laugh through improv, think through character analysis, and learn about themselves and others through acting, writing and more!

Theater Tech Classes

Theater Tech AKA “Techies” classes are held on Thursdays at the Winterville Cultural Center at 3:30-4:30pm and 4:30-5:30pm and will be broken up by grade level! In these classes, the students will learn the wonderful world of Tech Theater, including set, prop and costume design, lighting, sound, and much more. See below for more info!

  • K-4th Grade Techies

Even the littlest set crew member can make all the difference. We will focus on responsibility within the theater space, getting messy with set design, how to work as a team and all things fun and games. Our K-4th Techies will start to learn the elements of Tech Theater through puppetry and dioramas and move onto helping with the end of semester productions!

  • 5th-12th Grade Techies

Learning the ins and outs of what happens back stage is essential for any young thespian. We will explore Production Design, Set Design, Set Crew and costumes. Crafts, games and planning an epic production are just a few of the activities we will explore. Focusing on team work, accountability, planning ahead and respect for the theater space we expect this class to be a favorite for our 5th-12th graders.

Film 101 Class

Our newest offering is brought to you by Little Characters + It’s Good To See You Productions! Film 101 class will be held on Thursdays at the Winterville Cultural Center from 5:30-6:30pm for kids in Grades 4-12! In these classes, students will learn all about cinematography, storytelling, film lighting and audio, and much more while working together as a team to create their own original short film! Class will end with a live showing in May with a talk-back with the young cinematographers about how they brought their stories to life!

In the Works: Mommy and Me - Toddler Theatrics!

Bring your little and join us on a journey through our senses. During this class we will express ourselves with our bodies, voices, props and costumes, while having a WHOLE LOT of fun along the way!
